Quick update! Sometimes cancel culture really does work — the clearance physical got bumped to last Friday, and I was on and off the biopsy waitlist in less than a week.

What's new

Two things.

First, the biopsy got moved up. It was originally scheduled for May 29; I'm now confirmed for Friday, May 15 with Dr. Glickman. Manuel will call mid-next week with the time.

Second, Friday, May 1st was a Northwell double-header. Clearance physical with Dr. Nolan in the afternoon — to confirm I'm healthy enough for the procedure and to order the rest of the pre-op labs — followed immediately by a chest X-ray on my way home at my neighborhood Northwell's Imaging in Greenwich Village, where all my imaging needs are met. Vitals at the physical were unremarkable (BP 112/70). Bloodwork and urine (with culture) came back today and were released to Dr. Glickman's team. Chest X-ray: no acute infiltrates, heart normal size, plus the routine wear-and-tear in the spine that anyone past 60 has.

What this does (and doesn't) mean

It means I get actual results — not just imaging probability — about two weeks earlier than expected. Pathology takes roughly five business days, so the report should be back the following week, rather than in early June.

Until those results are in, treatment talk stays theoretical — though Dr. Nolan did mention that if surgery ends up being the path, robotic prostatectomy is typically recommended for "younger patients." 66 apparently counts as young ;)
